WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO CONCERNING SPF, DKIM, AND DMARC FOR EMAIL
Written by: Scott Bernstein, Senior Consultant, CIO Landing
So where do you go from here? Is this a real concern at this point? I have had some long discussions with CIO Landing technical experts and technical people from several spam filtering companies that CIO Landing uses. Unless you send over 5,000 emails per day to Gmail accounts, these changes most likely are not an issue. That is assuming you have the following configurations and understandings already in place:
- SPF records: All CIO Landing (including former BSSi2 clients) using M365, or Gmail have this covered.
- Watch your spam rate, keep it under 0.3%.
- Use a business-class spam filtering service.
- CIO Landing can install an inexpensive DMARC service for added security.
- Be aware that if emails to you that were previously received by you are now rejected by your spam filtering service, the senders may not have a valid SPF or DKIM record. The problem exists on the sender’s side, not your side.
Email is a business-critical application and anything that affects its reliability and security should be a concern to all. If you have any concerns about your email, please give us a call.
